Buea, the beautiful city at the foot of the Fako Mountain holds a significant place in the annals of our country Cameroon. Buea was the capital of German Kamerun. It was also the capital of West Cameroon upon reunification with our brothers of East Cameroon in 1961. Above all, Buea remains the land of our ancestors, prominent among them, the brazen warrior King Kuva Likenye, my great grandfather, whose mobilizing prowess led the Bakweries to defeat and ward off the Germans in their initial attempt to colonize Buea. Buea today remains the city of legendary hospitality by its embrace of all Cameroonians. Buea is the repository and embodiment of our Bakweri cultural heritage.
During my reign as Paramount Chief, my vision is to re-ignite Buea to become the rallying force for the socio-cultural revival and development of the Fako people targeting especially the women and youth at the grassroots.
Improving the livelihood of our youth is one of our priorities. Our Fako Multipurpose Cultural Center will have a section for women and youth development.
We are currently engaged in two local development water schemes to help improve access to potable water and reduce the spread of diseases such as cholera.
With the challenges of modernization and cross-cultural pollination due to migration; we have embarked on strengthening ours through massive recruitment into our cult dances.
